Global Mining Sites
Small amounts of Green Aventurine have been found in many parts of the world, but the most important deposits come out of southern India. Brazil is the second-place producer. Russia, Spain, Austria, and Tanzania produce smaller amounts of aventurine.
History
Aventurine was first discovered in the 18th Century. This stone was named after the Italian word “a Ventura”, which means “by chance”. It is commonly carved into figurines, monuments, sculptures, beads, and cabochons for jewellery.
Appearance
This crystal is a silicon dioxide mineral and a member of the Quartz family. Green Aventurine is a green crystal that ranges from translucent to opaque, and has a green shade that varies from pale to deep, dark green. It gets its green shade from Fuchsite inclusions. Mica inclusions give it a sparkly, shimmery appearance with a glassy lustre.
