Candles

– While the performance and beauty of soy candles speak for themselves, soy wax is truly an eco-friendly, biodegradable and sustainable product.

– Made from soybeans, soy wax is known to burn more slowly than most other waxes, burning 50% longer than regular candles.

– Even though soy wax candles are sometimes more expensive than paraffin wax candles to buy, they are still more cost-effective in the long run.

– Soy candles are non-toxic since they are made of vegetable oil, have a lower melting point (so the wax itself doesn’t get as hot), produce minor amounts of soot, and release no known carcinogens into the air. Soy wax candles are much healthier for humans, pets, and the environment.

– The scent from soy candles is much stronger and more pleasant than the scent from paraffin wax candles. Because of the lower melting point of soy wax, there is a larger amount of the liquid wax pool around the candle wick itself. It is from this liquid wax pool and the wick itself that the essential oil evaporates into the atmosphere.

– By following these instructions and tips we are confident that you will get the most enjoyment from your candle.

– Remove your crystal before proceeding to light the wick. The crystal is intended to be a keep-sake and serves no purpose inside of the candle.

– ALWAYS trim your wick to about 6-8mm before you re-light your candle. Be sure not to over trim your wick, as you may not be able to re-light your candle. Cut the wick only when the wax has hardened.

– Cotton wicks will mushroom, this is a natural character of the wick, always remove the mushroom before and during burning if burning for prolonged periods. This will ensure a long lasting candle.

– Towards the end of your candle’s life, please leave around 1 cm of wax at the bottom to finish. Please do not let the wick continue to burn once the wax has almost evaporated, as there is simply not enough wax to absorb the heat below this level.

– NEVER leave an open flame unattended. Place candles in a safe place away from children or pets.

– Candles should never be left to continuously burn for over 4 hours.

– When extinguishing your candle, never blow out the flame. Always use a candle snuffer to extinguish the flame. Alternatively dip the wick in wax to distinguish the candle and then set the wick upright ready for the next burn. Allow candle to cool and harden before relighting them.

– When lighting a soy candle for the first time, allow the wax to melt all the way to the sides of the container. This will give you maximum fragrance and an even burn. Scented candles develop a ‘burn memory’ and a candle that has not been burnt right to the edges on its initial use, will ‘tunnel’ and burn unevenly through the centre of the wax.

– Ensure you position your scented candle away from drafts. A draft can result in an uneven burn and will reduce the life of your candle.

– A candle can get very hot, especially burning for more than 3 hours. So ensure candles are placed on a heat resistant and level stable surface.

– Never move or touch a burning candle.

– Remove candles from their packaging before burning.

– Do not leave your candle in direct sunlight as it may discolour. It will not affect the candle in any way; it just loses its creamy white colour.

NOTE: You can recycle your tin vessel. Soy wax is super soft and a finished candle can easily be gently cleaned under hot water. Allow to air dry before use.

Crystals

All crystals purchased from Crystalline Wellness are cleansed and enriched with Reiki energy before they are sent to you. However, they will pick up negative energies over time, and will need to be cleansed. Cleansing and recharging your crystals is the only way to restore it to its natural state. Once cleansed, you may also wish to programme your crystals with specific healing intentions.

Moon
Cleansing and recharging under a full moon or a new moon are especially powerful. You can place them outside or on a windowsill at these times. Even if it is a cloudy night, the moon’s rays will still energise the crystals.

Use this for: All crystals, but make sure to bring them in the next morning as soon as possible

Sun
You can place them outside or on a window sill during the day. Even when it is cloudy, the sun’s rays will still energise the crystals. Be careful though, as some crystals will fade in the sunlight.

Use this for: Most tumbled and opaque crystals
Don’t use this for: Vibrant crystals (such as amethyst)

Earth
Crystals come from the earth, so placing them directly into the earth will naturally cleanse all negative energies and re-energise them. Leave them for approx. 24 hours. Afterwards, give the crystals a quick rinse to remove any dirt and debris. Pat dry.

Use this for: Hard crystals, such as quartz
Don’t use this for: Any water-soluble crystals which may begin to dissolve if the earth is too wet. Crystals ending in “ite” tend to be water-soluble.

Water
Holding your crystals completely submerged under purified water will cleanse and recharge them. Submerge overnight and pat dry when complete. Do not use ordinary tap water. Some crystals should not be immersed in water, so if you are unsure whether your crystals are water safe, use a different cleansing method.

Use this for: Hard crystals, such as quartz
Don’t use this for: Crystals that are brittle or soft, such as selenite, kyanite, and halite

Salt Water
Only use this method on harder crystals and as with the running water, if you are unsure whether your crystals are water safe, use a different cleansing method. Place some natural sea salt into a glass bowl, add purified water and completely submerge your crystals. Leave overnight and pat dry when complete.

Use this for: Hard crystals, such as quartz and amethyst
Don’t use this for: Crystals that are soft, porous, or contain trace metals, such as malachite, selenite, halite, calcite, lepidolite, and angelite

Dry Salt
Sea salt has long been known to have purification properties. To use dry salt, place the sea salt in a glass or non-plastic container and bury the crystals with the points facing downward into the salt. Leave overnight for approximately 24 hours. The sea salt will absorb all negative energies, leaving them cleansed and re-energised. Make sure you dispose of the salt so it is not used again.

Use this for: Most Crystals
Don’t use this for: Crystals such as malachite, pyrite, lapis lazuli, opal, hematite

Smudging
You can use sage, sandalwood or even incense to smudge your crystals. Simply burn the smudge stick or incense and pass your crystals through the smoke. Allow the smoke to envelop each crystal for about 30 seconds. This will clear the crystals of all negative energy.

Use this for: All crystals

Sound Healing (Singing Bowl)
Sound healing allows a single tone to wash over an area, bringing the crystal into the same vibration as the tone. If the crystals are small, you may put multiple into the singing bowl. Place bigger crystals close to the bowl, then set your intentions and play the bowl for a few minutes.

Use this for: All crystals

Reiki
Reiki Level 1 – Simply hold a crystal in your hand and Reiki it
Reiki Level 2 – Simply hold a crystal in your hand and Reiki it. You can also use the mental/emotional symbol over your crystals.
Reiki Level 3 or above – Directly infuse with pure and channelled universal light energy.

Use this for: All crystals

Other Crystals
Large quartz clusters, amethyst geodes, and selenite slabs can be great tools for clearing smaller crystals. Place it directly inside or on top of these larger crystals. It’s thought that it’s vibrations remove the inharmonious energies found in the resting crystal. However you must remember to regularly cleanse and re-energise the large crystal to ensure it retains its cleansing and re-energising powers.

Use this for: All crystals

Crystals that are Self-Cleansing:
Citrine, Kyanite and Selenite

While it is not essential to programme your crystals, you can do so if you wish to focus the crystals energy on a specific intention. We recommend following these steps.

1. Think about what you want from your crystal and carefully formulate your intention.

2. Choose a crystal that resonates with your intention (e.g. choose a calming stone for stress relief). You can use the crystal healing properties listed on this website for guidance, or your own intuition as to which stone would best serve your purpose.

3. Cleanse your chosen crystal with whichever method you prefer. We recommend you clear the crystal of any previous programming while you cleanse it.

4. Sit quietly, hold the crystal in your left hand and clear your mind of unrelated thoughts. Start to focus on your intention. You may state your intention out loud, or visualise the words of your intention – whatever you feel more comfortable doing. Repeat your intention several times until you feel the vibrations have been absorbed fully into your crystal. The process is complete when you intuitively feel that it is.

5. Finish off by thanking the crystal for its presence then spend a few minutes in meditation.
