What is Malachite?

Malachite is a copper carbonate mineral that forms in unusual swirling patterns. In a crystallised form (extremely rare), Malachite has long needle-like looking stalactites. This mineral was first reported in 1747 and was named by after the Greek word “malache”(mallow). Malachite was believed to be used in ancient Egypt as early as 3000 B.C. for jewellery and ornaments. In the Middle Ages, Malachite was used for protection of the evil eye and as “medicine” for stomach ailments.

Malachite is one of the most important minerals for protecting against negative energies. This stone is known to create a “cloak of invisibility” around the user.
